Okay lets catch up!

It has been so long since I have given an update. Lets go way back to where we left off (to say way back is a bit of an understatement).  We were able to go to Michigan over Manorial day weekend! It was so much fun. Michigan is beautiful. I fell in love with how green it was! I could not be more blessed to marry into the family I did. I was given the grand tour of Detroit. I saw everything from the bridge to Canada and the different churches around. It was so different to see the churches with gates around them.

We went to Mexican town. Brian was excited to take me there. While we were there we got our birthday presents from his parents. They surprised us with Detroit Tigers shirts and tickets. We went to the game that night, Brian was in heaven. This couldn't have been more fun. Well that is what we thought. While we were sitting there watching the grounds crew set up for the game we saw someone come up the stairs with a big stroller. It took a minute to registrar but we realized that it was Mark, Juliane and Adam! What we thought was a great surprise was made even better. It was nice to spend that time with everyone.

I felt spoiled because the next morning we went to the Detroit Zoo! Brian made fun of me before we left because I was so excited to go. I know I am a dork but I just love Zoo's! We met Ryan, Christine, and the girls there. This was the first time meeting Ryan and the Girls it was great to meet them. Everyone is so inviting. I couldn't have felt more loved. I will say I was happy to spent time with my new cute nieces! The zoo was really fun there was a butterfly room, reptile house, and polar exhibit! It was great to see Brian with his family. There is so much I learn about him everyday. He is such a loving patient man!

After the zoo we picked up Lauren from the airport! I was so excited to spend time with her it had been way too long. I have missed her a lot! The reception was that night and it was wonderful Juliane and Mom worked so hard and did such an amazing job. I met many people that have been a huge part of Brian's life. Everyone was so kind! On Sunday we had a family barbeque. Ryan is quite the cook. Christine was so sweet to have us over to her house. We were so sad to leave on Monday. the trip was too short but it was great to see where Brian came from.

Well the next few months got crazy. I was working full time and Brian was in school. I was able to interview for student teaching positions and took the offer from West Kearns Elementary. I graduated from BYU-I (well I walked). My mom and grandma were able to come visit it was so fun to have them in Rexburg with us. That same weekend Tim and Cassie and their kids came into town for education week. Brian and I watched the kids while they went to education week. We had so much fun playing with them and seeing how much they have grown. It was sad to see them leave but it was time for our big adventure.

Moving to Utah

Once graduating was over we packed our things and left for Utah. We live in Cottonwood heights now. We love the ward that we are in and the support that they are to us. It is nice to also be closer to family. The times that we have had to spend together have been great. Brian is working so hard. I feel so blessed that he has been well enough to work such long days. Being here so far has been a humbling experience. I have felt that we have been in the dark for a while now but we keep praying that the light will come soon.

I have seen many sweet mercies while we have been here and I know that the Lord is watching out for us. We are learning more and more about each other and I know that I am falling more and more in love with Brian each day.

I have had some time to think either while I am out on runs or I am in the car on my commute to the school. I am truly blessed to be in the career that I am. I see happy smiling faces everyday. The school that I am teaching at it a rough school. The neighborhood is not the best. Our school is about 80% poverty. It is a blessing to watch these children who have seen, and go through things that no human should go though, smile, laugh and play. It reminds me that even in times of struggle there can always be joy. While we have been here I have found that the girls I am student teaching with are such a sweet blessing. I learn so much from each one that I dont think they understand. Watching the passion that they have to teach and to serve the Lord is changing me forever. I am so greatful for their kind listening ears.

The West Kearns Girls

I know I know this has been the worlds longest blog! I just want to say that we are blessed beyond what the eye can see. I have found that yes when it rains it pours but, there is always a place to go and escape the storm. Find something you love and do it. I have seen that as I run more and sing more. I am finding more joy in my life. I know that the bad will pass and one day I will look back and know that I was never alone. Not only did I have the most amazing husband there to help me but, we had family, friends and most of all our Savior to lift us out of the gloom and despair. Thank you all for being such wonderful blessings in our lives!

Our little place in the world

It has been a while since I have posted on our blog. I was waiting until we moved into our FIRST apartment! So exciting. We were so blessed to stay with Korey and Stefanie for the last two months.  It was so nice to know that we had a place that we could be. It was hard though. Brian and I have been working though these first two months of marriage. Not a day passes by without learning something about being a better person. I am so blessed with such a patient loving husband. ( And trust me when I say it must be hard to be my husband) Brian teaches me everyday that I should be better.

Brian and I had quite the experience while moving this weekend. we made three trips back and forth from Idaho falls to Rexburg. This is how our first trip went. Well we woke up at 7 o'clock. Which is way earlier then we like. we started moving boxes into the car and packing the large stuff into the truck we borrowed. When we were done we were right on schedule so we started driving to Rexburg. This was such an exciting adventure. While following Brian I started having this bad feeling that the bed might come off the back of the truck.

This is the view I had from behind. This was right after I had slowed down because of the promptings I kept having. Little did I know is three minutes later this is what I would see.....

Yes folks that is our mattress in the middle of the road. I guess Brian just wanted to take a nap. It had been such a long morning. I will say there has only been one other time that I saw my life flash before my eyes. I had to fight back tears as I realized that if there was no other wind that day and if I had not listened to the prompting or feeling that I was blessed to have Brian and I would be down a car and up a few more bills. When I called Brian he was really shaken up and a little frustrated that this had just happened. I couldn't help but be a little frustrated too. You see I had class in about fifteen minutes, I tried my best not to let him know that I was frustrated but I'm sure he knew. He made the long drive back and we both took a minute to think about it all and try to change how it felt. I sat in the car and thanked the Lord for the blessings he had given us. I didn't take a picture but a state trooper showed up. I was sure that he was going to tell me that we should have tied it better and we would get a fine. However, it was just the opposite. This little angel helped us put on the mattress and then left on his way.

We worked hard the whole day and by the time we went to bed we had our whole bedroom unpacked what a relief. It is so nice to be in a home that is just ours. we were able to wake up with the sun which we haven't seen in our bedroom for about two months. I am learning about the sacrifices that we must make to be happy in life. Yesterday we were able to finish the rest of the unpacking and plan on decorating as we can.
New Ward, New Adventure

Homemade Waffles. Not bad for our first real meal!

It finally hit me last night that we are married. we now are starting our lives. We have the ultimate power and blessing to make a home and start our family. You would think this would have clicked sooner but living with other people it was just like we were having a long term sleepover. What a blessing it is to know that I am able to start this adventure. I am in complete awe that the Lord felt that it was my time to get married and that he intrusts in Brian an I to have a family. I feel right now that I am not quite sure I can fit into these shoes but someone is sure. I am trying to take more time to find God.
I am learning that in order to fit these shoes I must have God to wear them with me.  Today at church we discussed the talk To My Grandchildren by Henry B. Eying. It made me think of the blessing we have to be here on this earth and to learn. Its main point is talking about happiness. It made me think am I happy? As I though this over I thought Yes I am. I am The happiest I have been in so long. It is amazing to know that the reason for this is the commitments I have made with the Lord in his house. Someone shared a story about how their mom looks at life and tries to be more positive in situations. I am learning that the more I do to better myself in the sight of God the more I will be able to serve him and find a happiness that can never be found any other way.

I know that the Lord loves me. He sees and hears me each day. I know this because of the little miracles that have happened in my life. I am so blessed to have the joy of the gospel in my life and to know that the is NO other way that I could have such certainty and hope in my life. Christ lived. He died for each of us. Now is our time to show him what it means to us. Now is our time to serve and uplift each other. I am so blessed to have the ability to enter the Lords holy house here on this earth. I strive each and everyday to keep the commitment I have made to him.
If you are reading this and you wonder how can she know these things get on your knees and ask. He will answer. He is there to love and support you.

Check out Mormon.org it can answer any questions you have about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

I am excited to see where life will take us next. Brian will start work in a month or so and I get a nice break from school soon. Time for us to buckle down and get to work. I wouldn't choose any other person to have by my side!!

We made it one month!!!!

Okay everyone it is time for our update.
I would like to say we did it.
We made is ONE month.
 I don't feel like it has been hard for me at least. Living with Brian means I have a clean husband. weird I know I feel like most men are messy and the women are clean. Well we are not normal. It is quite the opposite in our home. Lets go through the things I've learned since we were married;
  1. Brian is the best husband in the world.
  2. Trust the Lord
  3. Pray Together
  4. Leave love notes.
  5. Everything has its place. So put it there.
  6. Planning meals makes a happy husband.
  7. Cook together
  8. Clean together
  9. Laugh when you make a mistake
  10. Don't worry (I will say this is still being learned)
  11. Don't go to bed with angry feelings.
  12. Brian will eat almost anything.
I still have a long way to go but I think I'm making it there. I am so happy to have my best friend by my side. He teaches me so much everyday. I am so lucky to have a man the loves God far more then anything in the world. It has been so great to share time and love with him and learn to have more Christ like traits. I hope one day more of him will rub off on me. I wish I was more like him.

This past week was fun. Brian came down to Rexburg with me on Tuesday and Thursday. This always makes Rexburg better. Yes, We have been doing the normal. I'm in school and Brian is applying like crazy for work. Most of our time that is spent "together" Is over the phone. However, this weekend was a great exception to the rule. We got to go with some new friends to Island Park. There was a small family cabin just cuddled up in the woods. There were five couples and we were all able to have rooms to ourselves. We watched movies and played games all weekend. Brian and I went on an all new adventure of snowmobiling. Of course everyone wanted to go on a night ride so we went. Brian had been on one once and I had never. I wont lie I learned that I am the biggest sissy. We will just say that we went pretty slow and almost flipped once. We need some practice. It was nice to spend time with him and friends. Now we are back to school and doing the same old things but Im thinking that we will make it far!
Just hanging out :) even his angry face is cute!!

How it all began...

Yes I know you are thinking, here we go just another new family starting a blog. Well, you would be thinking right. We are a new family and I was thinking why not write down the happenings of our day to day life. I know, I know your thinking okay, I am sitting here reading your blog so tell me something interesting. Here we go another story of love at BYU-I.  Well this story cant just be told by one so here it is my side of how we met.
Megan's Side

Okay so it all began in the fall of 2012. Picture this a new semester.  You are busy meeting new people going to new activities and of course scoping out the boys. Well this particular semester I wont lie was a hard one for me. I had just gone through a pretty hard breakup and was trying to find someone new. I remember seeing Brian walk into church and thinking that he was pretty cute. Although I was not the type of girl to walk up to some random guy and introduce myself. Mistake number one. Brian being a quiet guy I always wondered what he was thinking but never said anything. little did I know what he was thinking. Well, a year or so went by we talked a couple times but nothing really. All the times that we talked I felt like he didn't want to be there. So as the 7 week break for school came up he started asking me questions about our major. He asked me things like who to take for classes and how to buy a parking pass. I thought he was crazy.  Finally I just gave him my number. we started talking everyday and It was the best. We talked on the phone for hours and texted all day. This was only because he was in Michigan and I was in Rexburg. When he came back I remember being so nervous and didn't know what to do. But everything just clicked. I fell in love with him more and more everyday. The poor guy took care of me everyday as I was sick all semester. Finally after all the talk of getting married he finally proposed on October 5th!
HE ASKED!!!!!
We spent the next couple months trying to plan a wedding. Luckily we had the best family in the world. They planned our wedding and helped us so much. We got married on December 21, 2013. It was the best day of our lives.
Brian's Side

Well my side of the story goes a little bit more in depth because I did all the work :) (yeah that's what he thinks)Well as Megan said it started in the fall of 2012 and I was looking for someone new to date. I had just gone through a really big break up while I was living in Utah. I was looking for someone new, fun and interesting to date. I remember one Sunday night I went to ward prayer for our ward and that night Megan's apartment did the spotlight and as they were introducing their selves I payed close attention to Megan's. I looked her up and down and said to myself DANG!!! I am going to date that girl. I never really said when but I knew that it was going to happen but it wouldn't be for a while. It was so hard after that to talk to her because she was cute and I couldnt talk to her. One time I went to a fireside and I sat right next to her and it was so hard to talk to her and I just wanted to lean over and give her a big fat smooch on the lips. I was going to ask her out and the day I finally got courage to ask her out and that day she got a boyfriend. I was so upset. Then our seven week break came. I left and went home to Michigan and she stayed in Rexburg.
About a week passed when I found out that she broke up with her boyfriend. I was so happy :) I then facebook stalked her. (like everyone does to girls they are interested in). I then wrote her a message saying:

Brian Mackey
Megan B what is happening? How is your break going? Doing anything fun? anyway just wanted to say hi
Megan Mackey
Hey whats up!? Break is going great. I have been working a ton but that shoukd slow up soon and then ill do something exciting haha. How about you how is break?
That was the begining of our conversation and then it was history from there. At the end of our facebook conversation it went like this:

Brian Mackey
awesome thanks for the help I am all signed up it will be an interesting semester but I think it will be fun with all of my classes! Another question did you ever have a parking pass for the Hinckley building? Do you know how much it is?
Megan Mackey
It was about 40 bucks you should just text me haha it would be easier lol (her number).
When she gave me her number I ran around the house in joy. My mom could tell how happy I was. We then texted and talked all day everyday after that until we got back to see each other. We had our first date over the phone watching the same movie together. Priceless right? Then it was time to go back to school. I was so exicited and nervous to go because I would have to see Megan face to face. I finally got back put all of my stuff in my house and then went straight to Megan's house. I knocked on her door she opened it and I put out my arms to get a hug and she hugged me. That same day we went on our first "real" date. We went to go see my sister and her new baby and then went to dinner. It was an amazing day. That night I asked her to be my girlfriend and she unforutently said yes. I dodged a bullet with that one. Then it was history after that. We dated for about three weeks Until....
We had talked about marriage and I knew she was the one for me after much prayers, fasting and dilibration with the Lord. I then went to my brother in law for help. I needed help to put a ring on her finger. She told me what she wanted and that was it I then had a mission to find the best one. So Mark and I went out hunting and took a while but I found one and I knew it was the right one. I finally got it and I had it in my possion and I was so happy. We then went to Utah for General Conference weekend where she met my family, she was a little nervous at first but she did great and hit it off great with my family. Satuarday came around and I knew this was the day that I was going to ask her to be mine. I was so nervous the whole day and she new something was up but I tried to act normal. I took her to temple square we walked around a little I had the ring in my pocket and I made she she walked on the oppiste side so she didnt know what was going on. She made it to the other side and I told her here come on this side. Then she knew something was up. We sat down on a bench and I was waiting for a while and then I sat next to her and I was so nervous. I took the box out and said something whatever it was it must have worked and then I asked her to marry me and she said No!!!!!

Oh wait just kidding she said Yes!!! Then it was history from there. We planned a wedding in four months and got married on December 21st in Salt Lake it was the greatest day of my life!!!!!!!!
You see I have married the best man in the world. I am the LUCKIEST girl in the whole world. Dating was fun and finding him was even better. I will say that marriage is not the easiest thing in the world. Actually if you think about marriage its not comfortable at all. I will let you know that being sealed to Brian was the best choice I have ever made.

We go on so many adventures and have the best time doing them. After we were married we spent two days in Salt Lake and then went to California. We had an amazing reception and spent new years in Sacramento. We were so blessed to have time to be together because now school has started and we barley see each other. We are living with my best friend Stefanie, her husband Korey, and their new little one. We have the whole basement and it is nice to have a place to call home. We have had so much fun putting together a home and starting our lives together.
